Network installation

Network installation

  1. Install Cat6 Cabling Network:
    1. Install Cat6 cabling network for WAPs, routers, and Internet connection.
    2. Install data racks where required.
    3. Terminate cables both ends (RJ45 or patch panel).
  2. Install Mux Bus Cabling Network:
    1. Install Mux bus (Cat5/6 23AWG) cabling network to each PIN Pad.
    2. First breakout it each channel.
    3. Terminate both ends with RJ45 connectors.
  3. Install Network Equipment:
    1. Install WAPs, router, switch, UPSs.
    2. Connect all devices to power.
    3. Test all devices liven up.
    4. Ensure all used switch ports are flashing and Internet connected.
  4. Install Hub and Muxes:
    1. Install Hub and Muxes.
    2. Connect to power.
    3. Test all devices liven up.
    4. Connect Mux buses running to Breakout boards only at this point.
  5. Install Breakout Boards:
    1. Install Breakout boards in location.
    2. Connect each chain together with Cat5/6 patch leads.
    3. Ensure light on each breakout board lights up as you go.
  6. Connect Unit Equipment Drop Cables:
    1. Connect unit equipment drop cables to Breakout boards (see Gen 5 Install Guide if required).
    2. Ensure all cabling is neat and tied down appropriately.
    3. Keep separation from power cables.
    4. Secure RJ12 cabling away from the roller door drum.
  7. Install PIN Pad and Gate Reed Switch:
    1. Install PIN Pad, connecting to Mux bus.
    2. Install the gate Reed switch.
    3. Install 4 core security cable (or similar) to the gate motor and Reed switch.
    4. Connect the Mux bus from the PIN Pad to the Mux and ensure the PIN Pad activates.
  8. Adopt and Configure Network Devices:
    1. Adopt network devices via the Unifi app or https://unifi.ui.com.
    2. Configure the network.
  9. Commissioning and Testing:
    1. Ensure the site is in commissioning mode in https://axxs.tech.
    2. Commission each unit via the StorAxxS app user area.
    3. Program the PIN Pad configuration and test all gate functionality.

Step Two - Storage Unit Equipment Installation

  1. Confirm Equipment:
    1. 2x Nuts and bolts for the strike
    2. Driver and security bit for the strike
    3. 3x Nuts and bolts for the lock
    4. Hex key for the lock and bracket
    5. Unit Controller and bracket
    6. Fixings for both brackets
    7. Packers for uneven floors
  2. Mount the Unit Controller:
    1. Screw the bracket body into the stiffener or wall
    2. Attach the UC to the bracket head, ensuring it hangs down
    3. Secure it with the lock nut
    4. Connect the RJ12 cables (Net towards Mux) and mount the UC onto the bracket body
  3. Mount the Strike:
    1. Align the strike with the lock
    2. Mark the holes
    3. Drill the holes
    4. Insert the bolts
    5. Tighten them into the nuts, being careful not to over-tighten
  4. Mount the Lock:
    1. Align the bracket with the strike and mark the location
    2. Secure the bracket to the ground
    3. Screw the lock to the bracket loosely using the supplied bolts and nuts
  5. Install the RJ12 Drop Cable:
    1. Place one end through the slot in the bracket and plug it into the lock
    2. Place the hood on the lock and secure the cable with conduit or other means up to the Unit Controller
  6. Align and Secure the Lock:
    1. Slide the door towards the lock and close it to ensure the strike doesn't collide with the lock body
    2. Tighten the lock into position.
    3. Open and close the door while sliding it left and right to ensure proper locking every time
  7. Secure the Cabling:
    1. Zip tie loose cables to the bracket
    2. Tidy up any excess by looping and securing it with zip ties
    3. Ensure RJ12 cables have a droop before reaching the UC sockets to prevent condensation from flowing down the cable into the UC
  8. Test the Operation:
    1. Ensure everything is fully secured and tidy
    2. Test the door's opening and closing operation twice to verify proper installation

Step Three - Commissioning

View User App Guide for Installers for more details about the app

  1. Ensure the site is in commissioning mode
  2. Power up all equipment that has been correctly installed
  3. Wait for all units to come online - Unit Controller (UC) light will turn solid BLUE
  4. Open the StorAxxS app on your phone (download Apple iOS and Google Play)
    1. Tap the ‘Login’ button to be taken to the login form. Tap the text at the bottom of the page labelled ‘Staff Login
    2. Enter the email address and password provided to you, and tap the login button to log into the User App
  5. Trigger a test on the UC by closing the door (or microswitch if present) and triggering the alarm PIR and the UC will start the test process:
    1. The LED will cycle through red, green, blue, purple, yellow and white colours
    2. The actuator will extend, and then retract again.
    3. Ensure you check the lock holds the door down while extended. If this happens too fast you can always press the “Lock” button to try again.
    4. The ambient light will turn on and a snapshot will be taken. Then, the ambient light will flash five more times
    5. There are other tests going on behind the scenes (e.g. WiFi strength, ping tests, etc)
    6. After the test is complete, the LED will go back to solid blue, and will await a result
  6. On the app, click on the controller tab at the bottom
    1. Wait for the UC you just tested to report a result, comparing serial numbers with case
    2. Check the unit number outside the unit and type this into the correct box. If it isn’t listed you can create a new unit by pressing the “+
    3. Check all details have passed, the snapshot is clear, all lights worked correctly, the actuator opened and closed
    4. Click “Pass” if all was OK and enter notes and “Fail” otherwise
  7. The UC will now reboot into normal mode, even if the rest of the site is in commissioning mode
  8. Repeat for all Unit Controllers

Step Four - PIN pads and Lock Controllers

PP PIN Pad Product ManualPDF
LC Lock Controller Product ManualPDF

  1. See the product manuals above for how to configure the PIN Pads through the menu system
  2. Ensure you change the master code and provide this to us so we can ensure you don’t lose access in future

Step Five - PMS Integration

StorAxxS staff will most likely need to talk directly to the facility operators and site staff to set up the integration if this is required.

PMS’s such as Sitelink, Storganise and Storman all work differently and may require software to be installed on the local PC.
