Sharing Access to Your Unit

Access can be provided via two different methods:

- Additional PIN Code: Use this feature to create PIN codes in your app, which you can distribute to grant others access.
- Shared Access: This feature allows you to send a sharing link to someone. The recipient will be prompted to create an account, download, and log in to the app.

PIN Code Sharing

As an alternative you can just create a PIN code and provide it to your guest, instead of an account to share access to the facility. This is useful for when you want someone to have quick access to the facility, but not require an app to be installed on their device.

Note that a PIN code will only provide your guest with access through the facility gate, unless the facility has enabled the "Unlock unit via PIN Pads" feature. If the feature is enabled, it will allow your guest to unlock your StorAxxS secured unit at the same time as the facility gate, using the PIN pad.

See "Open the gate and access your unit using the PIN pad" in the 'How to Access your Storage Unit' article.

The New PIN code form:

  1. Enter a PIN code that is at least 6 digits and does not repeat numbers.
  2. Create a PIN description (nickname) for the PIN code.
  3. Optional - configure the Start date you’d like the code to become active.
  4. Optional - configure the Expiry date you’d like the code to expire.

Reviewing PIN Code Usage

Usage of PIN Codes will show up in the normal activities list. The only difference is that the nickname you gave the PIN will show on the activity instead of your name.

Shared Access

The best way to allow friends and family to access your unit is to use the Share Access feature of the app.

Once you have signed into the app:

  1. Go to Access
  2. Select your unit
  3. Choose Share

This will show a list of any shared accesses you have.

Adding Shared Access

  1. Tap the +Add button
  2. Type the Name and Email address of the person who will be receiving the shared access invitation
  3. Toggle the Timed Access switch if required for temporary access dates, and select the date and time
  4. Tap Share Access

Shared Access will become active as soon as the invitee accepts (and the start date arrives, if Timed Access was selected), and remain active until either the primary customer removes the Shared Access, or the timed access expires.

Accepting Shared Access

The invitee will receive an email notification regarding the Shared Access invitation.

If the invitee is already a StorAxxS customer:

  1. Log into the StorAxxS app.
  2. Tap the invitation listed on the Access page.

If the invitee is not an existing StorAxxS customer:

  1. Click the link in the email to download and install the organisation's access control app on your mobile device.
  2. Once the app is installed, open the app.
  3. Register using the email address to which the shared access invitation was sent.

Removing Shared Access

If timed access is not enabled, you can manually cancel shared accesses to people by following these steps:

  1. Tap the Share button on the unit page
  2. Select the access you wish to remove
  3. Select Remove Access
  4. Confirm by tapping Remove Access again, and access will instantly be removed

Reviewing Shared Access Activities

Activities like opens and closes of your unit will show up in the normal activities list. The only difference is that the name of the person who opened or closed the door will show on the activity instead of your name.

Tapping the 'Activity' button on the door operation page shows all the recent activity of the unit, including opens, closes, locks and unlocks, as well as any accompanying snapshots that were taken during those events.
