Detecting Lock Overcurrent Events

This article details the steps to follow when you suspect a customer cannot unlock their unit due to the force the door applies to a unit's lock

Issue: When a customer is trying to access their unit but the lock doesn't appear to respond, follow the below steps to attempt to determine whether the lock may have experienced an overcurrent event.

Step 1: Check the status of the unit in the devices page

  1. From the axxs.tech dashboard, navigate to the devices page - or use the link https://axxs.tech/devices
  2. Search for the unit that the customer is trying to access
  3. Under the status column, one or both of the Wi-fi and OSDP network symbols should be green to indicate the controller is online. If both are Offline, i.e. grey or red, please call StorAxxS support on 07 3088 8092.

Step 2: Check the unit logs

  1. Click into the Unit's details page (the entry in the name column)
  2. Look for any logs that report Lock Fault in the Event column during the time since the customer tried and failed to unlock the unit
  3. If that entry's Trigger column has the value 'overcurrent', then the lock has had an overcurrent error. Please contact StorAxxS support on 07 3088 8092. The door will have to have tension relieved while we recalibrate the lock.

Step 3: Try Recalibrating the lock

  1. Navigate to the Motorised Locks tab
  2. Click into the lock listed
  3. This step is crucial - ensure that the customer is relieving tension from the door, for a roller door have the customer pulling it downward, for hinged doors, have them pushing inward toward the unit.
  4. While the customer is relieving the tension, click Home Calibrate
  5. Wait up to 1 minute, if the door still does not open, reboot the lock via Actions > Reboot
  6. Wait up to 1 minute or until the lock displays it's status as online again. You may need to refresh the page.
  7. Again, while the customer is relieving the tension, click Home Calibrate

If for any reason you are unable to call StorAxxS support on 07 3088 8092.
