Overlock a storage unit door


When a storage unit door is overlocked, the customer renting the unit is unable to open the door and access their items. The door can only be opened from the Admin Dashboard.


If the customer has an active storage unit booking, a drop down list is displayed in the ‘Lock Status’ column on the Access Control tab


  • The current status of the door will be displayed in the ‘Lock Status’ column in a dropdown list
  • Select the lock status dropdown to see a list of available options
  • Options include:
    • Locked - if the door is a manual swing/roller door, this will lock the door. If it’s an automatic roller door, this will close the door
    • Unlocked - if the door is a manual swing/roller door, this will unlock the door. If it’s an automatic roller door, this will open the door
    • Overlocked - this prevents the customer from operating the door (not available to all users).
  • Select ‘Overlocked’ to overlock the door
  • The ‘Manual Overlock Status’ modal will be displayed
  • Optional: type a message in the ‘Notes’ field
  • Select the ‘Save’ button to overlock the unit
  • The dropdown will be replaced with the ‘Overlocked’ button
  • On the facility map, the door of the unit will turn black (indicating that it’s overlocked).







Remove Overlock from a storage unit door

Removing the overlock from a storage unit door will allow the customer to operate the door again using the StorAxxS app.


Manually removing the overlock is only possible via the Lock Status drop down list located on the Access Control tab of the Customer Details page.


  • Navigate to Customers>Customer List and select the customer with the overlocked unit to display the Customer Details page
  • On the Access Control tab, in the ‘Lock Status’ column, select the ‘Overlocked’ button
  • The ‘Manual Overlock Status’ modal will be displayed
  • Optional: type a message in the ‘Notes’ field
  • Select the ‘Save’ button to remove the overlock from the unit
  • The Lock Status dropdown will display again with the updated door status
  • On the facility map, the door of the unit will turn red (indicating that it’s locked if it’s a manual swing/roller door, or that it’s closed if it’s an automatic roller door).
  • The customer can once again operate the door via the StorAxxS app
